First Brick is the long awaited return of critically acclaimed emcee Rasheed Chappell. His debut LP “Future Before Nostalgia” was heralded as a classic by many in the indie Hip Hop scene. On First Brick Rasheed pairs once again with legendary producer Kenny Dope to provide the canvas for his vivid wordplay.
It’s been 7 years since Rasheed’s last release and First Brick serves as a reminder and reintroduction. It reminds those already familiar with Rasheed why he is held in such high regards by luminaries such as O.C., Lord Finesse, DJ Eclipse, DJ Scratch & DJ Clark Kent to name a few. It also serves as an introduction to those who may not be familiar with the work Rasheed had been putting down over the years.
Collaborating with the likes of Raheem DeVaughn, Apollo Brown, Diamond D and others has maintained his profile as an elite level rhyme sayer. First Brick provides an in-depth look into the mind and musings of Rasheed Chappell.
The title serves as a compass, leading the listener to the very beginnings of what made Rasheed the man he is. His crisp delivery and penchant for silver screen-esque lyricism is on full display on songs such as “101” and “ Shorty Rock Pt.1”.
The opening track “Breaking Ground” is a spoken word piece that informs the audience about the ride they’re about to embark on. All of life’s hardships and heroism are captured in his words. “Street Corner Shit” is a standout track that serves as an ode and cautionary tale to those that indulge in such recreation.
Unlike his debut LP, Rasheed isn’t the sole voice on this project. Enlisted are some of today’s truly exceptional rhyme spitters. CRIMEAPPLE and Daniel Son help paint a haunting picture on “Aiding & Abetting”. On the bar for bar banger “Kingsmen” Recognize Ali, Hus Kingpin, Napoleon Da Legend and Lil Fame of M.O.P. all pen precise poetic mayhem over a neck snapping Kenny Dope rhythm.
As the introduction of the album states, every building starts with a single break. As long as the foundation of Rasheed Chappell and Kenny Dope remain intact, expect nothing but good things.

Hook
Verse 1
Uh Yo Yo Uh
A yo we chase glory
Spark up to chase 40’s
6 buildings 8 floors a million stories
Heard ‘em all
Seen ‘em all
They came before me
In rope chains jail slang
Was just a shorty
In IZOD outta Saab’s
They jewels gaudy
They drop gems
Either boss or you employee
I’m stand up
You on the stand with your hand up
What kind of man help the man
To set they mans up
I clam up
Tight lipped I say nothing
Carry me with 6
Before I let 12 judge me
The scene ugly
Seen death I seen junkies
Seen up seen down
I seen hungry
To speak bluntly
These scenes they still haunt me
Everything I seen it seems it still calls me
But still in me
Every lesson in the hallway
Posted in the doorway
From Lexington to Broadway
Hook
Verse 2
This is dead stock
One of one I am the last real
I reminisce and give a glimpse of how the past feel
To every nigga locked up
Or on the ave still
Holding they last dolla’
Chasing they first Mil’
You know the cash kills
And for the currency
Stay on the humble
Let your hustles run concurrently
We live fast die young
This sense of urgency
Is bred in us
Bread winners we head spinners
Feds sending’ fake sales to mark pictures
Guns pop duck shots
The lead whistlin’
Peace God
Know the math we know the science
Know the dealers
Know the users we know the buyers
Know the highs
Know the lows
We know the depths
Know your role
Know the code
And show respect
And watch your step
Cause it’s piss inside the hallway
I’m holding court

This EP is legit as fuck. Him Lo reps for Buze Bruvaz & Lo-Lifes collective in the illest kinda way & chemistry he possesses over Giallo Point’s production is sick. Whats even more special about this record is not only it being Him’s 1st solo joint, but it also acts as like a foreshadowing for future solo projects and the genesis of another group, that being the Cognac Kingz comprised of Him & Giallo themselves. Cover art is nuts too. Dope record all-around💯 HTOWNMVRDER’DOVT84’Z
