First Brick is the long awaited return of critically acclaimed emcee Rasheed Chappell. His debut LP “Future Before Nostalgia” was heralded as a classic by many in the indie Hip Hop scene. On First Brick Rasheed pairs once again with legendary producer Kenny Dope to provide the canvas for his vivid wordplay.
It’s been 7 years since Rasheed’s last release and First Brick serves as a reminder and reintroduction. It reminds those already familiar with Rasheed why he is held in such high regards by luminaries such as O.C., Lord Finesse, DJ Eclipse, DJ Scratch & DJ Clark Kent to name a few. It also serves as an introduction to those who may not be familiar with the work Rasheed had been putting down over the years.
Collaborating with the likes of Raheem DeVaughn, Apollo Brown, Diamond D and others has maintained his profile as an elite level rhyme sayer. First Brick provides an in-depth look into the mind and musings of Rasheed Chappell.
The title serves as a compass, leading the listener to the very beginnings of what made Rasheed the man he is. His crisp delivery and penchant for silver screen-esque lyricism is on full display on songs such as “101” and “ Shorty Rock Pt.1”.
The opening track “Breaking Ground” is a spoken word piece that informs the audience about the ride they’re about to embark on. All of life’s hardships and heroism are captured in his words. “Street Corner Shit” is a standout track that serves as an ode and cautionary tale to those that indulge in such recreation.
Unlike his debut LP, Rasheed isn’t the sole voice on this project. Enlisted are some of today’s truly exceptional rhyme spitters. CRIMEAPPLE and Daniel Son help paint a haunting picture on “Aiding & Abetting”. On the bar for bar banger “Kingsmen” Recognize Ali, Hus Kingpin, Napoleon Da Legend and Lil Fame of M.O.P. all pen precise poetic mayhem over a neck snapping Kenny Dope rhythm.
As the introduction of the album states, every building starts with a single break. As long as the foundation of Rasheed Chappell and Kenny Dope remain intact, expect nothing but good things.

lyrics
Sips a Sisco
Miss Hicks the disco
Suga Bills
Big Horace and Cisco
Pistol
Poppin’ like it’s Crisco
Let’s get this money my nigga
By the fistful
Verse
This the first brick
I remember like my first lick
With niggas outside
Posing like a jail flick
The ice grills and big bills
The arms folded
The charms golden
Thick clouds of white blowin’
The night air
Fila’s or Nike Air’s
Some snorted and some chose to pipe theirs
Pretty fiends
Had niggas willing to dice theirs
In dark stairs
Saw the flicker from the flame
Cops showing flicks
Try to match it with a name
But fuck Columbo
Dime sacks was jumbo
Pops used to push ‘em
Before he turned to Dumbo
His white lines
Used to snort ‘em off a broken glass
I write lines
To sort the pieces of my broken past
Cash only
Niggas a blast homies
Put money in they casket
Laugh and flash Rollie’s
Wild times
Making of my wild rhymes
War stories
Limits a statutory
Mandatory minimums
25 to 40
Them long numbers
New niggas get wrong numbers
Cause landlines is land mines that land time
Keep quiet
Keep it off the wire
Separate the money the product and the buyers
The kitchen was like church
The Holy Grail
Hot plates and card games and weigh scales
Cheap liquor we took sips
And talk shit
Talk money we talk pussy
We talk whips
Hood celebrities immortalized in those flicks
This the genesis
And where I rapped my first brick

This EP is legit as fuck. Him Lo reps for Buze Bruvaz & Lo-Lifes collective in the illest kinda way & chemistry he possesses over Giallo Point’s production is sick. Whats even more special about this record is not only it being Him’s 1st solo joint, but it also acts as like a foreshadowing for future solo projects and the genesis of another group, that being the Cognac Kingz comprised of Him & Giallo themselves. Cover art is nuts too. Dope record all-around💯 HTOWNMVRDER’DOVT84’Z
