First Brick is the long awaited return of critically acclaimed emcee Rasheed Chappell. His debut LP “Future Before Nostalgia” was heralded as a classic by many in the indie Hip Hop scene. On First Brick Rasheed pairs once again with legendary producer Kenny Dope to provide the canvas for his vivid wordplay.
It’s been 7 years since Rasheed’s last release and First Brick serves as a reminder and reintroduction. It reminds those already familiar with Rasheed why he is held in such high regards by luminaries such as O.C., Lord Finesse, DJ Eclipse, DJ Scratch & DJ Clark Kent to name a few. It also serves as an introduction to those who may not be familiar with the work Rasheed had been putting down over the years.
Collaborating with the likes of Raheem DeVaughn, Apollo Brown, Diamond D and others has maintained his profile as an elite level rhyme sayer. First Brick provides an in-depth look into the mind and musings of Rasheed Chappell.
The title serves as a compass, leading the listener to the very beginnings of what made Rasheed the man he is. His crisp delivery and penchant for silver screen-esque lyricism is on full display on songs such as “101” and “ Shorty Rock Pt.1”.
The opening track “Breaking Ground” is a spoken word piece that informs the audience about the ride they’re about to embark on. All of life’s hardships and heroism are captured in his words. “Street Corner Shit” is a standout track that serves as an ode and cautionary tale to those that indulge in such recreation.
Unlike his debut LP, Rasheed isn’t the sole voice on this project. Enlisted are some of today’s truly exceptional rhyme spitters. CRIMEAPPLE and Daniel Son help paint a haunting picture on “Aiding & Abetting”. On the bar for bar banger “Kingsmen” Recognize Ali, Hus Kingpin, Napoleon Da Legend and Lil Fame of M.O.P. all pen precise poetic mayhem over a neck snapping Kenny Dope rhythm.
As the introduction of the album states, every building starts with a single break. As long as the foundation of Rasheed Chappell and Kenny Dope remain intact, expect nothing but good things.

lyrics
Uh Uh
Verse
I’m the face of the franchise
Flagship artist
Sickle and the hammer
Czar the black Marxist
And my blade
Been sharpened on the park bench
I’m on my dookie rope Union Square Park shit
I’m the architect and the arsonist
.45 caliber tongue
Thoughts the cartridge
Birds with they head in my lap
Going ostrich
And my shit
Been wove from a different cloth
A nigga hung like a Christian cross
El Hamidullah I deen so no pork
Dark denim
White tee
The ‘Lo emblem
1080p in HD are my pictures
This the wide screen lifestyle
Late night corner store visine and lifestyles
Get a dutch
This is too strong for White Owls
A night owl
You can find me in the after hours
Eyes wide
On them niggas plotting after ours
Like P.E. live my life through the scope
I’m he who laughs last
Was the ass of the joke
A power shift
I’m the change in paradigm
Abnormal I played near the power lines
You fool’s gold
This that 24 karat rhyme
Clean cut
With pristine clarity
Not for profit
I do it like charity
In this school
It’s the student verse faculty
I gotta live out my King
Before they Malcolm me
And put the X on me
Throw the hex on me
Long barrel single shot or the tech on me
No vest on me
Walk with the Lord
Behead Devil’s
Like a nigga talk with a sword
The ballot or the bullet
The corner or the pulpit
I recite like Negro hymns
My insight like Eloheem
My lines uncut like kilo grams
It’s hard body
Meets God body
Borderline verbal assault
Unarmed robbery
With no hands
I make magic
A nigga stay over they heads
Closed caption
Closed caskets
And blow ashes
The mind of a torturous soul
The pen’s classic

This EP is legit as fuck. Him Lo reps for Buze Bruvaz & Lo-Lifes collective in the illest kinda way & chemistry he possesses over Giallo Point’s production is sick. Whats even more special about this record is not only it being Him’s 1st solo joint, but it also acts as like a foreshadowing for future solo projects and the genesis of another group, that being the Cognac Kingz comprised of Him & Giallo themselves. Cover art is nuts too. Dope record all-around💯 HTOWNMVRDER’DOVT84’Z
