First Brick is the long awaited return of critically acclaimed emcee Rasheed Chappell. His debut LP “Future Before Nostalgia” was heralded as a classic by many in the indie Hip Hop scene. On First Brick Rasheed pairs once again with legendary producer Kenny Dope to provide the canvas for his vivid wordplay.
It’s been 7 years since Rasheed’s last release and First Brick serves as a reminder and reintroduction. It reminds those already familiar with Rasheed why he is held in such high regards by luminaries such as O.C., Lord Finesse, DJ Eclipse, DJ Scratch & DJ Clark Kent to name a few. It also serves as an introduction to those who may not be familiar with the work Rasheed had been putting down over the years.
Collaborating with the likes of Raheem DeVaughn, Apollo Brown, Diamond D and others has maintained his profile as an elite level rhyme sayer. First Brick provides an in-depth look into the mind and musings of Rasheed Chappell.
The title serves as a compass, leading the listener to the very beginnings of what made Rasheed the man he is. His crisp delivery and penchant for silver screen-esque lyricism is on full display on songs such as “101” and “ Shorty Rock Pt.1”.
The opening track “Breaking Ground” is a spoken word piece that informs the audience about the ride they’re about to embark on. All of life’s hardships and heroism are captured in his words. “Street Corner Shit” is a standout track that serves as an ode and cautionary tale to those that indulge in such recreation.
Unlike his debut LP, Rasheed isn’t the sole voice on this project. Enlisted are some of today’s truly exceptional rhyme spitters. CRIMEAPPLE and Daniel Son help paint a haunting picture on “Aiding & Abetting”. On the bar for bar banger “Kingsmen” Recognize Ali, Hus Kingpin, Napoleon Da Legend and Lil Fame of M.O.P. all pen precise poetic mayhem over a neck snapping Kenny Dope rhythm.
As the introduction of the album states, every building starts with a single break. As long as the foundation of Rasheed Chappell and Kenny Dope remain intact, expect nothing but good things.

lyrics
Uh...Street corner shit
The real
Yeah street corner shit
Yeah Project City
For all my blunt smoking niggas yeah
Verse 1
Ugh
They call me Gomar Oz
Dubar and Inshallah
I hope to see tomorrow
Wickedness that we involved
These chickens saddle on
And niggas tattle on
And send they niggas up river
And now they paddles gone
Young and hard headed
My niggas Capricorn
Animated Pixar when the heckler drawn
Yeah we out the hood
But we far from it
So when you see the cloud
You know the storm coming
My nigga fresh out
And down to get it live
And standing on his head
He did his six to nine
He kept his mouth closed
You know the G code
And behind them walls
Is where the weak exposed
Yeah I speak in code
The wise analyze it
Those that really live this
Y’all niggas fantasizing
And pantomiming
Shit we hands on
And we master anything we get our hands on
Hook
That street corner shit
4 in the morning shit
Loaded lamas roll the scama
Keep the drama lit
You know the hustle
For this money nigga I’m a get
And keep it live
On my street corner shit
Verse 2
Ugh
This hood alchemy six floor apartment C
Building 45
Every word certified
You niggas instagramming
And taking flicks
My niggas intsta gramming
Scaling flake baking bricks
No bacon bits
That’s non cipher
Last of a dying breed
Ain’t many likes
Not many like us
But respect shown
I bag two birds
Feed ‘em this dick of stone
That’s hard pipe and hard white
And if they swallow
Then they our type
I’m talking reckless
So pardon self
Cause for that power U
Niggas lose the God in self
Y’all rest havens
You niggas fall in love
And while you chasing them
They chasing us
They got you playing poppa
And make you watch the kids
We playing carousel
All my niggas get a spin
Hook 2
That street corner shit
4 in the morning shit
Loaded lamas roll the scama
Keep the drama lit
You know the hustle
For this money nigga I’m a get
And all the killers and the thieves
We surrounded with
That street corner shit
4 in the morning shit
Loaded lamas roll the scama
Keep the drama lit
You know the hustle
Nigga all this money I’m a get
And keep it live
On my street corner shit
Verse 3
Ugh ugh
So either you the victim or you the culprit
You pull the strings
Or you the puppet
Pinocchio or Gepetto with the metal
So either your name echos or quiet inside the ghetto
It’s no surrender and no retreat
Ain’t no concessions and no defeat
So what you live for
Is what you die for
And only for the life of your seeds
You would lie for
That’s hood shit
And proper etiquette
We all got our vices in life
In search of sedatives
So smoke away the pain
And try to numb it out
And niggas trick cash
Flaunting with they hunids out
They all gaudy
Till they take shots
From that Mossberg stainless cal .40
So when the block talk
I advise you listen
Could either pay the price
Or just pay attention
Hook
That street corner shit
4 in the morning shit
Loaded lamas roll the scama
Keep the drama lit
You know the hustle
For this money nigga i’m a get
And keep it live
On my street corner shit

This EP is legit as fuck. Him Lo reps for Buze Bruvaz & Lo-Lifes collective in the illest kinda way & chemistry he possesses over Giallo Point’s production is sick. Whats even more special about this record is not only it being Him’s 1st solo joint, but it also acts as like a foreshadowing for future solo projects and the genesis of another group, that being the Cognac Kingz comprised of Him & Giallo themselves. Cover art is nuts too. Dope record all-around💯 HTOWNMVRDER’DOVT84’Z
